Grand Canyon Love

Some photos from my Grand Canyon Trip. 16 days private trip from Lee's Ferry to Diamond Creek. More to come stay tuned...
Driving out of Portland with Eric at the wheel. I shot some Polaroid photos on the trip.

Katie the Geologist amazed at the size of Zion National Park. We hiked to Angels Landing to enjoy the view.

Lee's Ferry. The put in for our 16 day trip. I worked into the afternoon packing up what gear I needed to take with and then made it all fit into my Fluid Big Bang Kayak

Ben at the sticks. Turns out this was the first rapid Ben had ever paddled in an oar rig.  House Rock Rapid, what a beautiful rapid and even better campsite.

Eric Adsit making the best of a jump into cold water.

Red Wall Cavern was a highlight for me, I had always seen photos and video footage of this magical landmark.

We woke early after a night of whisky drinks to hike up Nankoweap for the sunrise.

eric Adsit and Dan Phillips enjoying an afternoon off the river and in the sun, with beer and frisbee.

I woke early to the sky looking like it was on fire.

Eric Adsit on Horn Creek Rapid showing us how it's done.

Harrison Rea in the thick of it all.

Walking into a side canyon. The light reflecting off the walls really caught my eye.

Another hike, this time away from the river.

One of the coolest hikes we did through these narrow canyons.

The elusive raven. These guys would stalk you as we left camp. They would swoop down and pick up any left over crumbs from the kitchen. Or they would tear open any sort of food bag when the opportunity arose.

Winter trips means you are allowed to burn drift wood. There was an abundance of it.

Looking down river.

Ben feeling very comfortable at the sticks.

Our last campsite, the peak on the left of the frame is Diamond Peak, our take out marker.

I hope you enjoy these photos. I'll be working on a few more to share on my blog plus some editorial projects from the trip.
