Something Old
>> Saturday, January 8, 2011
I was browsing through some old images from 2009 and stumbled upon this shot. I had just finished a multi day commercial raft trip on the Orange River Gorge and arrived at base camp to see Rob Wilson and Ine Skjorten where in camp for the night. Rob was busy paddling the 2400km long Orange River. Ine, joined him from Raapenskraap Farm to the Richtersveld. His long sea kayak was loaded with supplies and equipment. It took four of us to help him carry it down to the river. For photos, film and a daily journal visit planetriver.com and look under the Pure Orange tab. Enjoy.
Inspiration For The New Year
>> Monday, January 3, 2011
The New Year has rolled around already. Happy 2011! Looking back briefly on 2010, it was an incredible year for me personally and professionally. New friends and relationships built, some great boating in the States, a source to sea expedition in Norway, time well spent in Africa with family and friends and a magical end of year. Sitting back at my desk today processing images, thoughts and feelings I was thinking about inspiration. What is inspiration and where does it come from? How is it formed? Can you touch it and what does it smell like? Well, I looked it up in the dictionary, Inspiration; the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.
I'm still getting my head around "inspiration" but found a photographer's website which has really inspired me today and wanted to share. Joe Curren: http://www.joecurren.com/
His work and style hit my inspiration button... so cheers to the New year of 2011, may it be full of inspiration and creativity for all.
