Post card from Cartagena de Indias,( Cartagena of Indies) one of the most beatiful cities I have ever been to in my travels. It appears to be the first documented human community in what is now Colombia. One of the best stories connected to the city is; " The dramatically increasing fame and wealth of the prosperous city turned it into an attractive plunder site for pirates and corsairs – French privateers licensed by their king. Just 30 years after its founding, the city was pillaged by the French nobleman Jean-François Roberval. The city then set about strengthening its defences and surrounding itself with walled compounds and castles"
